An expression of agreement or affirmation, especially in prayer.
The congregation says amen at the end of the prayer.
Etymology
The Hebrew word for “truth” was used to affirm a statement, much like “certainly” or “absolutely.” After a prayer, amen similarly expresses agreement with or solemn approval of what has been said.
