Proud talk about one's achievements or advantages.
He brags about his trophies while his friend listens skeptically.
Etymology
Middle English braggen meant both “make a loud sound” and “talk boastfully.” The boastful sense is therefore already present in the ancestor; whether it arose from imitated noise or a word for pride remains uncertain.
