A hanging fabric screen that covers an opening.
The folded curtain covers most of the window, leaving a narrow pane exposed.
Etymology
Latin cortina meant a round vessel or cauldron before it meant a fabric screen. The curtain sense apparently arose through its use as a biblical loan-translation of the Greek word for a curtain.
