density

DEN-suh-tee/ˈdensəti/

The amount concentrated within a given space.

Two identical transparent square trays viewed from above contain identical red wooden beads: one tray has a few widely spaced beads, while the other has many closely packed beads.
Etymology

The pieces name the quality of being thick or closely compacted. Measuring how much occupies a given space makes that quality quantitative, especially in the physical sense of mass per unit volume.
