A small thin leaflike segment of a larger structure.
Each leaflet of the compound leaf attaches to a central stalk.
Etymology
Leaf already meant a page or sheet of paper, so leaflet is literally a small leaf in that sense. The diminutive came to name a small printed sheet used to convey information or advertising.
