Etymology
Middle English mesche named an opening in a net. The meaning later extended from the individual gaps to the connected netting material that surrounds them.
In context
the nets in Morocco have a second fabric made of hard plastic fibers behind them. This prevents the mesh from inflating when the wind blows.
