The cyclist is ready to leave, with her helmet fastened and bicycle beside her.
Etymology
The base already meant prepared or suitably equipped; the added adjective ending did not supply that meaning. From being in a condition fit for use, ready also developed the sense of being at hand or available.
In context
critical roles will have qualified candidates ready to step in when needed the Readiness level field indicates how prepared a candidate is to take on the role
