An occurrence of something that has happened or been done before.

The child repeats the same arrangement of red and blue blocks.

Etymology

Here 'again' combines with a verb meaning 'go to,' 'strive after,' or 'ask for.' The resulting Latin verb already meant 'do or say again,' the core idea retained in repeating actions or words.
