A fingertip gently touches the big toe on a bare foot.
Etymology
Old English ta already named a digit of the foot, so the bodily meaning has remained stable. The later “toe” of a shoe takes its name from the part it covers.
In context
it pushes your foot forward which in turn takes your toe over the end of the shoe which isn't the most comfortable
