Etymology
The older noun named a pin used to secure a rope or strap, but its deeper origin is uncertain. The modern verb reflects the later toggle switch and computing key, which alternate between two states.
In context
to active and the rest to inactive but I think that that would be kind of excessive because every single time we toggle a book as active we have to toggle everything else as inactive right
